Are you wanting to run the WHOLE thing or are you cool to run/walk? I did all of my distance runs with intervals and it made it much easier.... then the 3 miles wouldn't be so hard. For instance: start with run 5 mins/walk 2 mins... then bump up the running and back off the walking.
